Posture is used to describe how your body is positioned when you’re sitting, standing and lying down. Proper posture is important for a number of reasons, including that it places your body in an alignment where the stress on supporting ligaments, tendons and muscles is limited. Poor posture can lead to discomfort and injury, whereas good posture places you in an alignment where stress is properly distributed to the intended muscles and ligaments. As a result, the muscles are allowed to work efficiently and as intended, which in turn decreases wear and tear that your joints undergo. This decreases your risk of joint discomfort and degenerative arthritis. Stress placed on the ligaments holding the joints in your spine together is also decreased with good posture. When your muscles, joints and ligaments are working as intended, your vital organs are able to remain in proper position and the nervous system is able to function normally.   This in turn, results in a fully strengthened back.

One great way to strengthen your back is the pull-up.  Pullups are one of the most beneficial back strengthening exercises when done correctly.  Without swinging, pulling yourself straight up, the pullup is known as one of the hallmarks of an advanced strength athlete.  The pull-up builds all around strength while developing biceps, triceps and shoulders, giving you powerful strength and muscularity.  This is where back strengthening comes in. Muscles throughout the back are bombarded with enough stress to make them grow stronger giving you impeccable strength and power.

What is it about Mixed Martial Arts conditioning and classes that makes this form of training more than just another trend in the world of fitness? Diversity, adaptability, simplicity and most importantly, results. The use of MMAXOUT as a fitness regimen brings together the worlds of strength conditioning and cardiovascular work in a way that no other program does.  Many other fitness routines lean strongly in one direction, leaving the workout incomplete.  What we have learned from these fitness programs and from programs of the past is that we greatly need a stronger, more comprehensive package, and MMAXOUT is the answer. MMAXOUT has a distinct advantage over other programs – it is a truly versatile cross-training workout. No other program improves strength, flexibility, coordination and reflexes the way MMAXOUT does.

Boredom and repetition are the proverbial straws that broke the camel’s back when it comes to fitness programs. MMAXOUT classes have such an array of exercises and approaches to obtain this ultimate goal of fitness and healthy living that it is nearly impossible to succumb to boredom in a workout. If possible, the incorporation of kettle bells, medicine balls, plyo boxes, body bags and other equipment adds greatly to the workout, promoting increased muscle confusion during the class and creating countless possibilities for exercises that keep members engaged.

The use of plyometric movements in MMAXOUT creates an environment where members of any fitness level are able to train together by allowing the use of alternative movements in order to increase members’ capability of completing the workout. Standard pushup position can be changed to the knees, box jumps can become step-ups and pull-ups can become a jump and hang movement. These alternatives to the original exercise keep students involved and working the same muscle groups as everyone else, which will allow them to work their way up to the eventual completion of the full exercise. This simultaneously promotes the inclusion of all students and gives members goals to work towards.

MMAXOUT has taken the idea concept of MMA fitness and developed it into an incredible program of fitness, community and achievement. A MMAXOUT class provides a member with an ever-changing assortment of exercises that are grouped into different daily workouts. In turn, those workouts are grouped into four different weeks of focus: Mmax Out, Mmax Interval, Mmax Extreme and Mmax Lean. This ongoing rotation of the general focus of the class, coupled with the various exercises that MMA provides, makes for classes that are NEVER the same twice.

Goals: Full Body Strength

Duration: 1 hour

Battle Ropes… 

MMAXOUT Warm Up

Jog around the oval and follow up with X Squats, Side-side squats, Yoga pushups and Mountain climbers

MMAXOUT Rope Relay

In teams of 4 clients must take it in turns dragging the rope one quarter of the oval. At each quarter the team stops and performs a drill.

Station 1: Seal body rows – 20 each

Station 2: Squat jump length of rope x4

Station 3: Car tire carry and stack

You can have two groups of 4 on this drill at once. One going clockwise and the other anti-clockwise. Other groups should begin on rep challenges.

Clients should be able to carry out this drill by themselves once explained leaving you free to supervise the Rep Challenges.

MMAXOUT Rep Challenges

In groups of 4 clients must complete 200 reps (approx. 50 reps each) of each exercise. Encourage fitter clients to push ahead and do more repetitions for the team.

  1. Inverted rows
  2. 1L Squats (100 ea. leg)
  3. Band shoulder presses
  4. Lateral lunges (100 ea. side)
  5. Hops (200 ea. leg)

When a team gets back from the Rope Relay swap them with a group performing the Rep Challenges. All teams should complete the Rope Relay twice and should finish all Rep Challenges.
